Our next gathering of The Nora Salon is Friday, July 26th in NYC! We hope you’ll join us for a glass of wine, friendly conversation, and an informal reading of Lorraine Liscio’s full-length play: City of Ladies.
Paris 1418. Writer Christine de Pizan raises her voice against the forces of power: the Royal Duke who provokes civil war and is in love with her; and the Sorbonne Chancellor who seeks to enlist her to promote a misogynistic book as France’s literary masterpiece. Defying everyone, she publishes her City of Ladies where women play all the key roles in society. Forced to flee for her life, years later she is vindicated by an unprecedented event.
Christine de Pizan is the first French female author to ever get paid for her work.
