The Nora Salon: “Never Not Once” is March 23rd!

The next gathering of our monthly reading series, The Nora Salon, is Friday, March 23rd. We hope you’ll join us for a glass of wine, friendly conversation, and an informal reading of Carey Crim’s play: Never Not Once.

Eleanor, a biology major at Princeton, brings her boyfriend Rob home to meet her two (not perfect but still pretty excellent moms). While there, she lets them know that she has hired a private investigator to help her find her biological father. She says, as a scientist, she is curious about her genetics. But it’s evident she might also just want to meet her dad. Nadine, her non-biological mom thinks it’s a great idea, partly because she had a deep and wonderful relationship with her own father. Allison, Eleanor’s biological mom is less enthusiastic, insisting that Eleanor’s father, a one night stand in college whose name Allison doesn’t remember, never even knew she existed. Nadine secretly gives Allison the name Doug. This information sends Eleanor on a journey to an unexpected and explosive answer to the question “Where do I come from?” The fallout and complications from this revelation force the whole family–and Doug–to confront the past in order to have any hope of moving on to a better future.

The Nora Salon: “Vincie” is February 18th!

The next gathering of our monthly reading series, The Nora Salon, is Sunday, February 18th. It’s our first weekend salon, first afternoon salon, and first salon in New Jersey! We can’t wait! We hope you’ll join us for a glass of wine, friendly conversation, and an informal reading of Elaine Insinnia’s play: Vincie.

Vincie, a celebrated modern artist, has become a paranoid recluse. She does not paint, will not be interviewed, and is obsessed with criminals breaking into her apartment. With the help for Tricia, an art student and the granddaughter of an old friend, and the promise of a show from gallery owner Phyllis, Vincie begins painting again. She starts to shed her fear of leaving her apartment, renews her relationship with her former lover Brady, and her precious Mets even win their astonishing way into the 2015 World Series. But all that glitters is not gold. Can Vincie survive the disillusionment that follows? Or will the horror she endured in the past overtake her once again.

The Nora Salon: B-Town is January 19th!

The next gathering of our monthly reading series, The Nora Salon, is Friday, January 19th.
We hope you’ll join us for a glass of wine, friendly conversation,
and an informal reading of Julie Kling’s teleplay, the sitcom pilot: B-Town.

For 35 years, everything has gone right for Ally Troth. She’s the Founder & CEO of Vulvelle, a wildly successful wellness brand that proudly sells vitamins in the name of feminism. When Ally suddenly loses everything in a major scandal, she’s forced to move across the pond to live with her husband’s kooky parents, who run a retirement home on the English seaside. Ally grapples with her strange new life and identity in B-Town, full of retirees, rain, and the occasional shitting pigeon.
